The Language Of Your Liver         Energy Medicine!

Do You Speak the Language of Your Liver? Parlez vous la langue de ton foie?
Our livers speak to us in many different ways, most of which we don’t recognize and thus misinterpret. We have seen numerous clients lately whose livers have been “talking” to them without their realizing it, so we thought a little more information on liver language, liver care, and how we can help might be in order.

The liver is the largest digestive organ in the body, usually weighing about 4 pounds. It is the body’s main poison control center, filtering all toxic substances, which in our modern world are everywhere. Three quarters of our cholesterol is fabricated here –only one quarter is ingested. The liver is a warehouse for, among other things, iron, vitamin B-12, and glucose. It metabolizes proteins, fats, and vitamins A, D, E, and K. It also metabolizes many hormones, including surplus estrogen.

So what are some signs that your liver is trying to talk to you? The list is long and varied: fatigue and insomnia, particularly between 12 and 2am; migraines and frontal headaches; sensitivity to light, especially in the mornings; brittle nails; tendon and ligament problems; chronic sinusitis and/or bronchitis; arthritis of the right shoulder; difficulty digesting alcohol, sugar, or cold beverages; and chronic anger and/or depression.

In our experience, the most common irritants of the liver are medications, especially statins; unresolved or frequent anger; alcohol; and menopause. Does this resonate with you or bring to mind anyone you know?

Fortunately, the liver is very responsive once you start listening to it, and it is easy for us to work with in your massage sessions. We can help you find out how your liver is doing by manually assessing how well your lymph is flowing through it (for more information on Lymph Drainage Therapy, see our website). We can then perform lymph drainage of your liver and surrounding tissues. We can check and work with your liver meridian, as well as your aura and your third chakra (which governs the liver).

There are also some quick and easy things that you can do for your new best friend – your liver. You can avoid alcohol and cold drinks. Each day, first thing in the morning, for ten days you can drink a glass of lukewarm water with lemon juice and a teaspoon of olive oil mixed in it. You can eat lots of artichokes and bitter greens like chicory. We can show you how to strengthen or sedate your liver meridian by holding a few simple points on your body. You can apply a few drops of essential oil and tap on the right side of your ribcage once each day. And you can use the following liver mantra: “My liver is cleansed and free. I leave the past and move into the new. Love and peace and joy are what I know.”

Once you learn the language of your liver, you will have a valuable ally in your quest to enjoy good health and abundant vitality.

ENERGY MEDICINE IS HERE!
Did you know that you have more than one body? No, you don’t have a long-lost twin! You have an energetic body that is both inside and extends slightly outside of your physical body.

This is not as strange as it may sound. Acupuncturists have been working with one aspect of your energetic body, the flow of chi along your meridians, for thousands of years. Yoga practitioners are maximizing their flow of pranic energy. In the Jewish cabalistic tradition it is called yesod, the Lakotas call it wakan, and the Iroquois call it orenda. We in modern American culture are just beginning to recognize the reality and importance of this matrix of subtle energies that actually form the foundation for our health.

In our practice, we use Donna Eden’s approach to energy medicine. Donna is a pioneer in the field of energy medicine and has been teaching people for more than two decades to understand the body as an energy system, to recognize their aches and pains as signals of energy imbalance, and to reclaim their natural healing capacities. The techniques are simple and amazingly effective, including tapping acupuncture points to sedate or strengthen a meridian, scanning and fluffing the aura to release toxic energies and seal the auric field, and circling the chakras to clear, balance, and strengthen them. There are also numerous tests to help identify energy imbalances and depletions.

In the few months that we have been working with Donna Eden’s techniques, we have successfully used them on clients with headaches, muscular pain, frozen shoulder, post-surgical trauma, difficulty concentrating, achy joints, fatigue, insomnia, and depleted energy. We are excited enough about this work that we will travel to San Diego in November for another week of training. So if you want to know more about how your “other” body is doing, we are the ones to ask!
